ANCED - Asociación Nacional de Centros de Enseñanza a Distancia
ANCED (National Association of Distance & e-Learning Centers) was founded in Spain in 1977 as a non profit organization under the Spain Law of Associations, and it reunites the private distance learning institutions of Spain. ANCED is the only independent learning organization whose quality is certified with Norm ISO 9001:2000 on international level. ANCED has conducted an quality audit with PriceWaterhouseCoopers of all its associated members, also monitoring the student study experience, with excellent results from all its members. In 2007, ANCED presented its new quality norms in the book about "E-learning good practices". BIU is member in good standing of ANCED since April 1, 2004, with membership number 399, and has met all the quality and ethical regulations established by ANCED since then.
ANCED is an organization that collaborates with the Spain Ministry of Work through a contract signed on September 8, 1998. All persons residing in Spain and Europe holding a degree from Bircham International University can work legally in Spain, subject to having to meet the requirements of the relevant professional bodies in those professions that require licensing.
ANCED is member of good standing of the EADL (European Association Distance Learning) and ICDE (International Council for distance Education), recognized by the United Nations as an NGO responsible of open learning and affiliated to the UN through UNESCO.
ANCED belongs to the National Consumer Arbitrage Systems, from the Spain Ministry of Consumer Affairs, since its foundation, and acts as one of the participants in all the Spain Arbitrage Councils to guarantee the best practice for the students of all its associated members. Bircham International University is one of the few education institutions that chose to adhere to this Consumer Arbitrage and was granted the membership number 364. Since its adhesion in 2005, there have been no complaints or incidents about Bircham International University with any student, company or institution.
BIU becomes member of ANCED in 2004 after a through site visit inspection and quality review.
ANCED certifies that Bircham International University is a member in good standing, that BIU meets all its quality and ethical standards.
ANCED certifies that any Spanish and European Union residents may legally use Bircham International University degrees to work in any profession that does not require licensure.
Since 2009, membership in ANCED is replaced with the European Foundation for Quality in eLearning.
In 2014, Bircham International University was admitted into the Open Education Europa as a private and independent institution of distance learning higher education at university level. Open Education Europa is the European Commission gateway to European innovative learning.
